It is the start of 2014 and I am ready for a bright, happy, new year ahead! Today I wanted to highlight one of the best parts of a new year in terms of the design world, specifically when it comes to color. Pantone – the leader in color forecasting – determines the color of the year each year and in early December announced that its color ‘radiant orchid‘ would be THE color for 2014.
Pantone says this about the color:
“An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, Radiant Orchid inspires confidence and emanates great joy, love and health. It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.”
So how do you incorporate this color into your space? Below are a few pieces that represent this color well – I’ve picked out my favorites here –
While they may not be ‘radiant orchid’ exactly, you will be seeing quite a lot of this type of pinkish-purple around not only in the world of interior design, but also fashion and beauty.
I’m already thinking of how I can incorporate this color into my home as we restyle our spaces ourselves (more on that later).
